The Heft Impact
Our Purpose-Driven Roots
By choosing Heft as your communications partner, you're not just accessing exceptional strategic talent – you're contributing to a purpose-driven organisation that amplifies social impact through everything we do.
Addressing Housing Inequality for Women
Since our founding, Heft has supported organisations working toward housing equity and social justice. Our deep understanding of the housing sector allows us to provide strategic communications support that drives real change in addressing New Zealand's housing challenges.
Our Executive Director Victoria Crockford is the Leader for the Coalition to End Women's Homelessness, an organisation working to address the critical issue of women's homelessness in Aotearoa New Zealand, bringing her expertise and networks as the former Chief Executive of Community Housing Aotearoa to this critical work.
The Coalition is building a national movement to respond to the urgent reality that too many women in Aotearoa lack safe, secure housing. The Coalition to End Women's Homelessness, with Vic's leadership, is working to change this situation through coordinated advocacy, research, and community mobilisation.
Supporting the Arts: Wellington Writers’ Studio
Communication is inextricably linked to writing. As communications specialists, we believe in nurturing Wellington's literary ecosystem, by supporting the creative writing community that inspires and challenges our industry.
The Heft HQ occupies the first floor of the Berry Building on Cuba Street. Our presence in the building led to us founding the Wellington Writers’ Studio, a social enterprise set in a beautiful sunlit space on the upper floor. Our patronage of the studio ensures the space remains sustainable, accessible and viable, allowing our writer members to focus on their craft safe in this historic building.
Launched in 2023, the Wellington Writers’ Studio has recently reached full capacity – a testament to the need for dedicated affordable writing spaces in our community. It is home to Folly, New Zealand’s fastest selling literary journal. This important print-only publication provides a platform for new and emerging writers in the face of diminishing publishing outlets and is distributed in bookstores and giftshops in New Zealand and overseas.
